The Black Keys have attacked music streaming service Spotify, labelling Sean Parker of the company an 'asshole'.

Parker is infamous in the world of file sharing, having established Napster in the late 90's before heavily investing in Facebook. He was played by Justin Timberlake in the 2011 movie The Social Network.

Now working with Spotify as a board member, Parker has become the victim of The Black Keys ire for seemingly representing all that is wrong with the relationship between music royalties and the internet. Branding him a thief and an 'asshole' in an interview with WGRD, Patrick Carney of the band said:

"He's an asshole. That guy has $2 billion that he made from figuring out ways to steal royalties from artists, and that's the bottom line. You can't really trust anybody like that."

Adding: "Trust me, Dan and I like to make money. If it was fair to the artist we would be involved in it. I honestly don't want to see Sean Parker succeed in anything. I imagine if Spotify becomes something that people are willing to pay for, then I'm sure iTunes will just create their own service, and they're actually fair to artists."

Meanwhile, The Black Keys recently apologised for criticising Nickelback saying they are not the worst band in the world, as they had originally claimed.

We're not sure that Sean Parker can expect a similar apology.
