Shut Up and Play The Hits, the movie documenting the last days of LCD Soundsystem will ve released this Summer, it has been confirmed.

The documentary film, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year, follows lead singer James Murphy as he counts down to the end of his band and their final concert at Madison Square Garden in New York. You can see a trailer for the film below.

Speaking via Twitter yesterday (April 2) Murphy revealed that Adam Yauch of Beastie Boys will be releasing the film in the US this Summer via his Oscilloscope Laboratories production company with a UK/ Europe release expected shortly afterward.

According to the official Oscilloscope Laboratories website the film will, "be released in special one-night-only engagements in theaters nationwide this summer."

Speaking about the movie itself, Yauch says: "Perhaps having grown up in a band for most of my life – a band that formed when I was 16 years old – and having released our first record when I was still in high school, this film addresses so many questions. For instance, it can be pretty clear when a band starts, but perhaps less so when it ends, or how it should end. In that sense, it's brilliant of James [Murphy] to end it in such a definitive way."
