The Rolling Stones are back together and 'throwing ideas around', guitarist Ronnie Wood has revealed.

It was 2007 when the iconic group last performed live but there are rumours that they will perform as part of the Olympic Games closing ceremony in London later this year.

Speaking ahead of an art exhibition he is putting on called Faces, Times and Places, Wood said that he, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts and Keith Richards are 'throwing some ideas around' in regards getting back on stage at some point.

'It's like working out for the Olympics or something. he said. Adding 'You've got to go into training. So we're going to go into training.'

Meanwhile, Wood has confirmed a solo headline show at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on April 21. Speaking about the show, he said: 'Lots of surprises because I'm going to surprise myself. I don't know what the hell is coming next. The whole set list is going to be made up. I'm making it up every day now.'

It was reported earlier today that The Sex Pistols have declined an offer to perform at the Olympics closing ceremony in June.
