Red Hot Chili Peppers and Black Sabbath will headline Lollapalooza 2012, it has been confirmed.
The US festival, which takes place between August 3rd-5th in Chicago, will be Black Sabbath's first US show since guitarist Tony Iommi recovered from chemotherapy. The band were linked to a headline slot at Coachella but were unable to perform following Iommi's diagnosis.
Speaking about his stellar booking, Lolla boss (and Jane's Addiction frontman) Perry Farrell said: "Every festival in the world wanted Black Sabbath to perform, but at the time of the announcement they had to back off and cancel all their shows. It broke my heart, but I just kind of kept a little fire building, a little kindling going to see if possibly we could get Black Sabbath. I didn't have much faith."
Joining RHCP and Black Sabbath on the bill will be Jack White and the Black Keys as well as At the Drive-In, Florence and the Machine, Miike Snow, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Delta Spirit, Metric, Gaslight Anthem, Sigur Rós, the Shins, Kaskade, Bassnectar, J. Cole, Childish Gambino, The Weeknd, M83 and Frank Ocean.
