America's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced that Axl Rose will be inducted this weekend, despite his recent refusal to attend the event.
Axl today stated: "Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony doesn’t appear to be somewhere I’m actually wanted or respected," in a letter consisting of over 1,000 words.
"For the record, I would not begrudge anyone from Guns their accomplishments or recognition for such," he added. "Neither I or anyone in my camp has made any requests or demands of the Hall Of Fame. It’s their show not mine."
In an official statement from The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the event extends its apology to the singer, but indicates he will be inducted whether he likes it or not.
The statement says simply: "We are sorry Axl will not be able to accept his induction in person."
Fans had hoped the event would see the band's original line-up reunite for the event after bandmate Slash mentioned the idea. Seems like a reunion is still a few years off...
