Former Guns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan has responded to the news that Axl Rose will not be attending the group's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As previously reported, the singer wrote a letter explaining he wanted nothing to do with the event.
Offering his take on Rose's decision to boycott the ceremony, McKagan said the night is about the fans and not Rose's absence. Writing on Seattleweekly.com, he said: "On that night, I will honour not myself or the chicken dinner they will most surely provide, but I will be honouring all those people who call themselves the fans of our group called Guns N' Roses.
"In the end, it's not about who does or doesn't show up from the original band, and I back whatever reason this guy or that has for not coming. It's all good. The songs are the important bit here."
While the band are not expected to perform, it is likely that the other members - Slash, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum - will be present, also.
