The Voice has received a number of complaints from viewers angry that the Sunday results show was not broadcast live.

The BBC show is filmed live on Saturday night, with the results show then broadcast the following day. It is understood that the BBC have received around 30 official complaints about the show, ranging from accusations of lying to just calling the show 'odd and stilted'.

Will.i.am has also come under fire after he Tweeted shortly before the Sunday show aired (April 29), trying to pretend that the programme was going out live.

'Tonight is going to be a difficult decision for me...I hate the idea of sending talented people home...#thevoiceuk' he Tweeted, already knowing who he had decided to eliminate.

Viewers voted with their fingers (and their TV sets) and The Voice fell behind Britain's Got Talent for the first time this weekend. However, the BBC are not surprised by this based on international versions of the show.

'In America The Voice's ratings dipped by 40 per cent when the live shows started. Luckily The Voice in the UK has only lost around ten per cent,' a source told The Sun.

Adding: 'But it's still a worry -- and it's being blamed on the red chairs. Now we're in the live shows the 'will-they-won't-they?' turnaround gimmick is all over. Viewers loved the theatre of the chairs, the buzzers and the new faces.'

The Voice continues this Saturday with Jessie J and Danny O'Donoghue's teams singing live for the first time.
