Rihanna steals Nicki Minaj's 'most viewed' YouTube crown

Rihanna's new video  'Where Have You Been' has become the most viewed video in a 24hr period in VEVO's history.

The video was launched on Monday (April 30) and was watched 4.9m times by Rihanna's fans. This breaks the previous record of Nicki Minaj's 'Stupid Hoe', which was watched 4.8m times on its reveal day.

In fairness, however, Rihanna's video was promoted as a chance to break this record with both VEVO and Rihanna urging fans to watch it as much as possible in order to take the title, something Minaj did not do with Stupid Hoe.

Tweeting about the results, VEVO tweeted: "NUMBERS ARE IN! After filtering out the BS & triple-checking, @Rihanna #WHYBvideo24hrRECORD stands @ 4,937,281! Congrats,"

However, with Justin Bieber revealing the video for his single 'Boyfriend' today we could see Rihanna's reign end temporarily.
