Coldplay have added their voice - and instruments - to the tide of support and sadness over the recent death of Beastie Boys star Adam Yauch.
The band performed a piano cover of 'Fight For Your Right' at a US yesterday (4 May, 2012) - the day news broke of the music icon's tragic death.
At a performance at the Hollywood Bowl last night, Chris Martin covered the track on a piano, adding the line "We're sending all our love to the Beastie Boys" to the track.
Beastie Boys also made an official statement on their website over the death of their bandmate, saying: "It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam "MCA" Yauch, founding member of Beastie Boys and also of the Milarepa Foundation that produced the Tibetan Freedom Concert benefits, and film production and distribution company Oscilloscope Laboratories, passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old."
Yauch was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and had battled the disease in the years since.
