Eminem’s ‘Southpaw’ movie has been stalled so the American rapper can work on his music, reports the Detroit Free Press.
The boxing film, in which Eminem plays a welterweight boxer struggling to get his career and personal life back on track, was denied funding after applying for $8.9 million in Michigan film incentives at the beginning of the year. The application was rejected due to ‘talent issues’.
"While he’s in that space, he wanted to put this on hold for the time being," Eminem's spokesman, Dennis Dennehy commented.
He added: "When the film does get made, the plan is that the bulk of it will be shot in Michigan. That was always the understanding."
‘Southpaw’ would be Eminem’s first leading role since his debut in '8 Mile'. In January it was reported that the rapper was to appear in another film, ‘Random Acts of Violence’.
