We The Kings: 'Fun. success is starting rock comeback'

We The Kings frontman Travis Clark claims the success of pop-rockers Fun. is paving the way for a return for guitar music to the mainstream.

The US rock frontman, who recently toured the UK with Simple Plan, spoke of the shift in the music landscape and the turn back to guitar-based music, with music fans starting to shun manufactured pop.

"When you look at the past five years of music, ever since American Idol started you have this new crop of pop music, of artists who don't write their songs," says Clark in an interview with Gigwise. "But now you have bands like Train scoring huge hits, or Fun. getting a No.1 single and all this music that has guitars, and has real music behind it.

"I think people are starting to get sick of everything sounding the same in everything and being written by the same person and just given to different artists. It's a good thing for a band like us who work our asses off to try to stay relevant so people continue to listen to our music so we can continue to be a band and continue to travel."

Fun. recently repeated their chart-topping US success as they scored a No.1 single in the UK with their hit 'We Are Young' in the UK.
