Robin Gibb to be reunited with brother Maurice at funeral

Late Bee Gees stars ashes were turned into crystals

June 03, 2012 by David Renshaw

Robin Gibb's funeral will see the late Bee Gees star reunited with his brother in a symbolic gesture this coming Friday, (June 8).

As reported on Gigwise, Gibb will be buried near his Oxfordshire home in a private ceremony at the end of the week. There will be a public memorial later in the year where fans can pay their respects.

According to newspaper reports out today, the funeral will see Robin 'reunited' with his late brother Maurice through the remaining members of the family bringing the crystals that were made from Maurice's ashes to the ceremony.

When Maurice died in 2003 some of his ashes were used to create four crystals which were then given to brothers Robin and Barry as well as his wife and Mother. Family members will bring all four crystals to Robin's funeral on Friday.

Speaking to The Mirror, a source said: “The stones are precious possessions for the family and in particular for Robin because he was so close to Maurice.

Adding: “He always struggled with Maurice’s death and he could never quite believe he had gone. His stone was a spiritual way of remaining connected to his brother and it is fitting that the stones belonging to the rest of the family will be at the funeral.

“The bond between the brothers was very strong and in a way the funeral will mark them being reunited.”

Robin Gibb's son J recently revealed that it was kidney failure that ended his Father's life, not cancer, as many had suspected.
