Razorlight have been on hiatus for some time now, but frontman Johnny Borrell continues to shimmer back into the public consciousness occasionally, usually for an absolutely ridiculous reason.
Borrell has been an indie punchline for a while now, thanks to his infamously low-selling debut solo album Borrell 1 and the plethora of ridiculous quotes that continously emit from his mouth ("Firstly, I'm a genius," he told the NME in 2004. "Musically, culturally, everything.").
Now, however, he's almost outdone himself. Our harrowing journey to work this morning was brightened immensely when we spotted an interview with The Borrell in today's Metro.
Asked if he knew anything about the upcoming Libertines reunion, Borrell replied: "I didn’t really know anything about it. Look, I don’t know anything about what’s going on in culture and I really have very little interest in it.
"As a musician I think you’re more likely to find out what’s going on by just walking down the street with a guitar than by having any clue about who’s playing which festival, or whatever," he added.
Then probed as to whether he watches or reads the news, Borrell replied: "You’d find out more truth by just walking down the street with a musical instrument than by looking at any of the news outlets."
Right then. We can all learn something from that.
