The album has been born alongside undoubted pressure, with predecessor 21 breaking records left, right and centre, there is a hell of a lot that Adele has to live up to. Latest figures from The Official Charts Company shows that the Tottenham singer is the biggest selling artist of the millennium, with sales of over 4,740,000 in the UK and 30 million worldwide.
She is remaining true to her singer/songwriter title... by continuing a very much do-it-yourself approach, Adele warned her fans that they would have to wait a few years for a follow up, in an interview with NRJ Radio in 2012 she claimed: "If I didn't write my own songs, I'd be out next week with a new album," she continued, "I have to take time and live a little bit. There were a good two years between my first and second albums, so it'll be the same this time." Try double that.
The LP is going to feature Paul Epworth. Although nothing has been officially confirmed, there are definitive signs from both sides pointing to the collaborators working together again. Back in 2013 when asked about the progress of the new album by Billboard, she said, "I'm definitely going to visit Paul Epworth and stuff like that again." Whilst the producer, although remaining shady on the topic explained, "the album will come when it's ready." The pair won an Oscar for Skyfall in 2014.
It's going to be called 25. Amazon Italy accidentally uploaded pre-order details of a new Adele album, which showed temporary album art which was entitled 25 (above) which was screen-grabbed by DIY Magazine. With the singer's previous albums being titled with the corresponding age at which it was written, the rumoured title makes sense. Another flurry of speculation on the title emerged when Adele posted a photo of herself on Twitter with the caption: "Bye bye 25! See you again later this year x" on her 26th birthday.
The lead single is expected to be entitled 'Devil On My Shoulder'. Fans captured a screenshot of the title on the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) website, where she was credited with Wells who worked on 21 with her. This was later removed.
She has been collaborating with a variation of established artists. A series of reports linking her to working with Ryan Tedder, Phil Collins, Damon Albarn and James Ford have been emerging over the last year. Speaking to the Herald Sun, Ryan Tedder of One Republic said "Adele sounds even better than before. I love where she%u2019s at. She%u2019s still my favourite artist in the world". However, some seemed to go better than others, Phil Collins called her "a slippery little fish" when he didn%u2019t hear back from her.
It's set to take in broader influences and sounds. Adele has been reported to have been dipping her toe into the world of rap with reports of a collaboration with Wiz Khalifa who she met at The Grammys, whilst Tinie Tempah witnessed her perform a rap which was described as %u2018filthy'. Additionally with Damon Albarn reportedly at the helm for a song or two, he will no doubt cast his multi-genred hand over songwriting or production, or better still input his British melancholy.
It could be released on a major label or her own...In October 2014 The Mirror reported that Adele was in talks with Sony for an 80 Million deal with Sony which allegedly included a deal for the singer to start her own label. This would see Adele depart ways with XL.
She's been working hard: Adele has been out of the spotlight for a long time, which is probably related to her personal life seeing that she gave birth to a child and got married, but has to be related to sessions for the forthcoming album which has been hushed. She even turned down the offer to perform on the Band Aid 30 single 'Do They Know It%u2019s Christmas', Bob Geldoff told The Sun , "she didn%u2019t answer my calls."
