In wake of Oasis' recent plans to play on without Noel

Blink 182 - Guitarist and lead singer Tom Delonge left Blink-182 earlier this year to focus on his 'non-musical projects', Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio stepped in as a speedy replacement which could potentially see him become a permanent member.

The Beach Boys - After Brian Wilson went off the rails following his drug abuse and obsessive songwriting for legendary unfinished album Smile, the remaining members continued to tour and record. They reunited briefly but then have fallen out yet again in recent times.

Chas (without Dave) - Charles Hodges known better to us as Chas often performs minus his buddy listed amusingly as Chas (without Dave). Chas and Dave are still touring on an on/off basis.

Queen - Following the death of Freddie Mercury in 1991 Queen revived their group with a variety of frontmen, most successfully Adam Lambert who replaced Freddie Mercury's lung-busting leather-clad presence.

The Jam - With Paul Weller offering a clear 'no way' to a Jam reunion Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler continued playing The Jam hits with Russell Hastings filling the Modfather's pointy boots, firstly as The Gift then as From The Jam who are still touring.

The Doors - After the death of Jim Morrison in 1971, the remaining members toured for a further two years before disbanding. Almost 30 years later, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger reformed again as Doors of the 21st century with Cult singer Ian Astbury, original member John Densmore sat it out and later sued the group for misuse of the band's name.

Guns 'n' Roses - Guitarist Slash left the band in 1996, which eventually led to the other original members departing. Since then, Axl Rose has continued to perform as the group with a hefty list of replacements who have been in and out of the band since their original demise.

Earlier on today, reports emerged signalling Liam Gallagher was set to reform Oasis without lead singer/songwriter and brother Noel. Here are nine other bands who have reformed without original members.

Although the frontman refused to comment on the news, it has certainly been sparked as a possibility, a source told The Sun: "It's very early days but the wheels are in motion. Liam, Guigsy, Bonehead and Tony are all interested and keen to see how it can work," and added "They don't seem to mind Noel not being on board, even though some fans won't regard it as a proper Oasis reunion. But as Noel wants no part in the band, it's the closest they are going to get to a full-scale comeback."

The recent weeks has seen a consistent back and forth between the siblings in interviews and on Twitter, Noel seems happy as a solo artist and continues to oppose Liam's definitive 'yes' to a reunion. Will it work or will there be a Noel shaped hole left?
