27 May, 2015: Fleetwood Mac played the first show of their UK tour at The O2 in London, playing a three hour set that focussed heavily on the recent return of Christine McVie, and also saw Stevie Nicks dedicating a song to "spectacular songwriter" Adele. Check out our awesome photos from the show here.
The London show, which kicked off the band's UK tour, opened with 'The Chain', which was closely followed by 'You Make Loving Fun' and 'Dreams' - much to the delight of the 20,000-strong crowd.
Introducing 'Landslide' later in the show, Stevie Nicks paid tribute to Adele, saying, "She is a spectacular songwriter, and that for me is - I told her 'You're gonna be me in 40 years. You're gonna be still up there on stage doing this because of your songs, it's what will take you all that way'. So anyway, Adele, this is for you. It's called 'Landslide'."
Elsewhere in the set, Mick Fleetwood, the band's eponymous founder and only original member, played an eccentric ten minute drum solo, and Lindsey Buckingham has his own solo moment with an acoustic rendition of 'Big Love' from their 1987 album Tango In The Night.
Buckingham, Nicks and Fleetwood all spoke movingly of having Christine McVie - who left th band in 1998 before rejoining last year - back on stage with them. McVie wrote many of the band's best loved songs, including 'Don't Stop', 'You Make Loving Fun' and 'Everyhere', all of which Fleetwood Mac performed last night. ""In this very karmic moment that we are experiencing now with the return of the beautiful Christine," said Buckingham, "I think it's safe to say that we have begun a poetic, a profound and a prolific new chapter in the history of this band."
