1 August, 2015: Metallica closed the Saturday night of Lollapalooza 2015 with a set crammed full of heavy hits. Check out our awesome photos from their set here.
The band clearly knew that they had a sea of loyal fans in attendance, choosing to avoid their more accessible tracks and launch themselves into a crunchingly heavy two hour onslaught.
James Hetfield quickly adressed the huge crowd before him, speaking to those who may habve not experienced the band live before.
"If you don't know what to do, just look at the people who have been here before...they'll show you how to have some fun here!"
When the band finally closed with 'Enter Sandman' after a lengthy encore, a swarm of inflatable black balls flew across a visibly flabbergasted crowd. It was beautiful, unfiltered chaos.
Metallica played:
Fuel
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Wherever I May Roam
King Nothing
Disposable Heroes
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
Cyanide
The Unforgiven
Sad But True
One
Master of Puppets
Creeping Death
Fade to Black
Seek & Destroy
Encore:
Whiskey in the Jar ([traditional] cover)
Am I Evil? (Diamond Head cover)
Nothing Else Matters
Enter Sandman
