"Nicest man in rock" Dave Grohl trended on Facebook this week, after he invited a crying fan on stage and sang 'My Hero' to him. It wasn't the first time this year that fans and bands have interacted at gigs - but they've not all been as heart-warming as that. Click ahead to see the good, the bad and the ugly.
Dave Grohl invites a crying man on-stage: After noticing that a man in the audience was crying during a rendition of 'My Hero', Grohl paused the song, invited him onto the stage and said, "Don't make me cry. I'm gonna sing this to your crying, grown man ass right now." The man was carried through the crowd, and joined Grohl onstage for the rest of the song - after they'd shared an emotional hug.
Antemasque throw boiling water at fans: The rock band, who comprise former members of Mars Volta and At the Drive In, began to throw a series of objects at their tiny festival crowd in New Zealand partway through their set. One of these items, horrendously and inexplicably, was a kettle filled with boiling hot water. Thankfully, no-one was seriously hurt, but one fan told the press, "My friend's arm went all burny pink."
Brand New forget words, ask fan for lyrics from his phone: Midway through a rendition of 'Millstone' at a New Mexico gig, Jesse Lacey suddenly forgot the words to the line, "I used to care if I was being cared for." In desperation, he asked a fan, "Do you have the lyrics on your phone there, bro?" In his defence, that line is a bit of a mouthful.
Afroman punches woman in the face: The rapper was performing in Biloxi, Mississippi when a young woman made her way onto the stage and began dancing behind him. After ignoring her for a minute or so, he very suddenly spun round and punched the woman in the face, causing her to fall to the floor. After looking at her on the floor, he turned back to the crowd and continued to play. It was shocking and unacceptable.
Ciara gives a fan a lapdance: Halfway through her set in Chicago, the hip hop star chose a fan from the crowd, sat him down on a chair while her backing dancers held his arms, and gave him a lap dance.
Action Bronson throws a fan off stage: Don't mess with Action Bronson You should probably know that by looking at him, but one fan decided to try his luck stage invading anyway. "No," said Bronson simply, pausing briefly mid-rap to throw the man off-stage with almost cartoon-like ease, before carrying on where he left off.
Dave Grohl stops show to give drumstick to blind fan: Another Dave Grohl entry, just for good measure. The Foo Fighters frontman was in the middle of thanking his fans when he spotted a man in the front row with a sign saying, "Drum stick for a blind guy please?" Grohl yelled, "Hey Hawkins! Give me a drum stick!" before handing it over to the man."
Misfits' Glenn Danzig puts fan in chokehold: Danzig has a strict no-photo policy at his gigs, so when he spotted a fan filming him, he snatched the camera and threw it across the stage. After the show, the fan contronted him, so he put him in a chokehold and called him an "asshole." Because of the aforementioned no-photo policy, this is the best quality view of the incident we could show you.
