The Libertines live at Brixton Academy, 8/9/16 - in photos
The sense of unity is something few crowds can equal - an almost religious experience
For most bands Brixton Academy would be a huge venue but for The Libertines, who can sell out Hyde Park, this is a close space within which to watch them.
They performed a mammoth 21 track set that left us breathless and still in belief that these are Britain's best guitar band with songs that will stand the test of time for generations. The unity of appreciation from the crazed fans is something that few crowds can equal.
The gig was put on by Unity rocks, an umbrella organisation of musicians, writers, and artists set up by Gary Powell.... "The idea of 'Unity Rocks' is to bring people together, regardless of their creed, colour, religion, of whether they voted Brexit or not. This is not about politics or politicians, it's about unifying as a nation and working to make a united more tolerant Britain, after all the future is in our hands. By using the power of music we hope to 'pluck' the ears of the political elite to our view and make them notice that our voices must be heard - whether it be via song or otherwise."
