17 stunning photos of Daughter at Manchester Academy, 24/10/16
Elena Tonra and co provided an emotional evening of brittle and powerful songs
Daughter are currently in the midst of a very special run of UK dates with the Joe Duddell and a brass trio and a percussionist. Last night they gave a spectacular show in Manchester Academy.
The collaboration with DUddell first happened in 2010 at Festival Number 6 in Portmeirion. 4AD session filmmakers caught the performance, and took it a step further with the view to reach a wider audience and drafted in some members of the Royal Northern College of Music to create a classical contemporary release named the 4AD session, which was out in 2014.
The sessions which Duddell does in Portmeirion have happened with the likes of Temples, East India Youth, and most recently, Blossoms. They've become a bit of a tradition for the festival. But it seems the collaboration with Daughter means something special by comparison and now they're out on the road together taking it out of a tiny village hall in West Wales all those years ago and onto some of the biggest stages for the country to enjoy.
