The Horrors, Warpaint, Bjork: 20 PIAS Records To Buy After Sony Warehouse Fire

Support labels' loss...

August 10, 2011

With the sad news that the PIAS/Sony distribution warehouse in Enfield, London had been burned down during the riots on August 8, came the realisation that many independent record labels had lost much or all of their stock and sales, and that distribution would be affected in the coming months.

Record labels impacted by the fire at the Enfield warehouse include Sub Pop, XL Recordings, PIAS, Hassle, Sunday Best, Polyvinyl, Xtra Mile Recordings, Sonic Cathedral, Too Pure, Domino Records, Matador Records, Full Time Hobby, Drowned In Sound Recordings, Secretly Canadian, Rough Trade Records, True Panther Sounds, 4AD, Bella Union, Young Turks, One Little Indian, FatCat Records, Drag City, Broken Sound and many more.

Bella Union have issued a statement saying: “It will help enormously if this week, any records you were planning on buying, from the independent labels affected by the fire and destruction of their stock, you go online and make your purchases there. It will bring in some desperately needed funds to help those companies re-manufacture the destroyed stock."

With this is mind Gigwise has put together a collection of a few of the many brilliant records from some of the labels affected. Our list includes recent releases, pre-orders and current singles, as well as a few hidden gems that you may have missed over the last few years, featuring the likes of The Horrors, Joanna Newsome, Johnny Foreigner, Team Ghost, Girls, Esben & The Witch, I Break Horses, Glasser, Bjork, The War On Drugs, Warpaint, Spokes, TuneYards and more.
