Eminem, Will Smith: The Best (And Worst) Rappers Turned Movie Stars
When talent no longer becomes an issue...
Rappers seem to be drawn to Hollywood like moths to a light, or perhaps that should be the other way round. From Kid 'n' Play's House Party at the start of the 1990's, through to Eminem's boxing movie Southpaw being canned by Dreamworks, Tinseltown seems unwilling to exhaust itself of putting these people on the big screen.
It doesn't matter if they can't actually act - their name on top of a movie poster guarantees big returns for studio executives. How else can one explain Queen Latifah's continued presence in (mostly terrible) films? Or Ice Cube forging a career for himself as a movie director, despite never showing the slightest hint of talent in the field. Perhaps it's best if we don't get started on 50 Cent, for a whole host of reasons.
Here we look at ten rappers to have made it - for better or worse - in Hollywood. Some, like Eminem, have shown a genuine talent for acting. Others... well... we're sure they're all very happy, and very rich.
