Coldplay, Jedward, Pukkelpop Storm: Biggest News Stories Of The Week (Aug 20)

Another week has passed by, meaning that it's that time when Gigwise rounds up exactly what has happened in music over the last seven days.

The week has seen not one, but two music festivals struck by bad weather conditions, both of which have led to fatalities. The first was at Indiana's State Fair last weekend (August 13-14) where strong winds caused a stage to collapse, resulting in four deaths and 40 injuries. Later in the week Belgium's Pukkelpop Festival met a similar fate when heavy rain caused two stages to collapse, killing five festival-goers and injuring dozens. The festival, set to take place over the whole of this weekend (August 18-21) has now been cancelled.

Elsewhere Jedward have been making the headlines, first for revealing their 'sex-free lives' and secondly for taking out an insurance policy to protect their trademark hairstyles while they take part in the Channel 5 relaunch of Celebrity Big Brother. Coldplay also announced the release of their fifth album 'Mylo Xyloto', set for release in October, and Blink 182 also unveiled further details surrounding their forthcoming comeback album 'Neighborhood'.

In other music news, Jay-Z and Kanye West opened their own 'Watch The Throne' store in New York in order to prevent their new collaborative album from leaking on the internet, Friendly Fires' part-time trumpet player Richard Turner sadly died of a heart attack and Noel and Liam Gallagher have continued their feud – this time with accusations of lies and Noel's laughter at his brother's looted shop in Manchester.
