Pinewood Studios today marks its 75th anniversary, and remains one of the most iconic studios in the world, home to films such as the final Harry Potter, Aliens and, of course, every Bond film made since 1962's Dr. No.

Situated in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, Pinewood first opened its doors on September 30, 1936, and through depression, war, and a decline in cinema audiences, has been producing first rate films ever since.

Notable early successes include two Powell and Pressburger classics, Black Narcissus and The Red Shoes, Michael Caine bringing Harry Palmer to life in The Ipcress File, and the early Bond movies, which led in 1976 to the creation of the world's most famous film stage, the 007 Stage.

In recent times, The Da Vinci Code, Mama Mia!, The Dark Knight and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts I and II have called Pinewood home.

With The Hobbit, Dark Shadows and Snow White and the Huntsman set to come to Pinewood in the next year, it is almost certain that the studio's next 75 years will be as equally eventful and momentus as the first.

Here are some of the greatest movies to come out of Pinewood, as we wish the studio many happy returns.

    Happy birthday Pinewood...
