Keith Richards Joins Johnny Depp At Rum Diary Premiere

Keith Richards was amongst the guests at the New York premiere of The Rum Diary last night (Oct 25).

Johnny Depp takes the lead role in the adaptation of Hunter S Thompson's novel, playing a journalist who accepts a posting to Peurto Rico in the 1950s.

For Depp, this is the second time he has starred in a movie version of a Thompson novel, having previously starred as the author in Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in 1998.

A moment of drama occured outside the Museum of Modern Art, when the actor had to - with the aid of security - force his way past fans eager to get a glimpse of their hero, although in the end it passed without incident.

Rolling Stones guitarist Richards, attending with his wife Patti Hansen, was just one of the celebrity guests, which included director Bruce Robinson, co-star Amber Heard, Amanda Setton and Jim Jarmusch.

The Rum Diary is released on November 11.
