Many of todays best (and worst) directors started with music videos, including David Fincher. As such they are often a medium for extreme experimentation, humor and techniques that years later will find their way into Hollywood.
This is a list of 2011's best offerings, which to be frank have been an extremely great crop with the expenses of the equipment needed to make a great offering falling drastically over the last few years.

25) Rihanna - 'We Found Love': This epic piece sees the lusty starlet embrace her inner European by cavorting around an Irish wasteland with a Chris Brown lookalike. Speculated to be about the pairs troublesome relationship the video juxtaposes loving and violent imagery. It was controversial for supposedly glamourising smoking and drug use.
