Less than 6 months ago we had nothing to remember what made 'Madchester' well...mad, except scratched old albums, t- shirts that don’t fit any more and the odd play on the radio. Now, in what is set to hopefully reignite the masses interest in British guitar music, we have not only The Stone Roses back, but The Happy Mondays too.

It was revealed today (January 18) that the original Manchester greats will return to play a select amount of shows over the coming year. The group said in a statement: "The rumours are true... Happy Mondays, the seminal Manchester band who changed musical culture forever has reformed and will be available for select live gigs across 2012."

The Manchester band have reunited twice before but without original members Mark Day, Paul Davis, Rowetta Satchell and Paul Ryder.

Here at Gigwise we were thrilled to hear the news that boys were set for a return, so in tribute to them here is the quintessential guide to everything Happy Mondays, enjoy.
