He made rap metal credible: This is, if anything, an impossible task with the likes of Crazy Town and Limp Bizkit ruining it for everyone. However Shinoda changed this by bringing charisma, deep lyrical content, flow and awareness of how to fit his verses into Linkin Park songs without shoehorning them in by force.
He will make you jealous with his insane list of talents: Shinoda is a rapper, singer, guitarist, keyboardist, producer, illustrator and writer. If that doesn't make you want to learn to do something new we don't know what'll motivate you.
He designed all the artwork for Linkin Park's albums: Whether you like or loathe Linkin Park, you cannot deny that their aesthetics are undeniably iconic, fusing a comic book style with graffiti and futurism. Also he was responsible for the Hybrid Theory artwork, which no kid from the 00s is ever going to be able to scrub from their brain.
He was responsible for Paul McCartney singing on 'Numb/Encore': Yes this happened all the way back in 2006, Paul McCartney joined the band and Jay Z on stage to mash-up 'Numb/Encore' with the Beatles' 'Yesterday'. The idea was headed by Shinoda who produced the squared mash-up, resulting in the performance seen here.
His nickname in the band is 'Glue': The reason he is called this is because he keeps everyone together. Bow down.
He remixed Depeche Mode: Shinoda remixed the band who clearly had a huge influence on Linkin Park for Depeche Mode's album Remixes '81-'04. He took the lead on 'Enjoy the Silence' bringing a metal age that made it one of the best tracks on the album
He writes for the Big Issue: in one of Mike's many charitable exploits he writes for the British magazine that aims to aid the homeless. He was their election correspondent during the Romney Vs. Obama elections.
He's incredibly charitable: Shinoda does huge amounts of work for charity, esepcially through Linkin Park's Music For Relief organisation, which has received numerous accolades. During the earthquakes in Japan for example he specially designed and sold T-Shirts for fans to raise money for the cause.
He made the first sound on Linkin Park's 'Lost In The Echo' single on THIS keyboard: This one speaks for itself really, look at that thing.
He composed the soundtrack for The Raid: If there was ever a project that was perfect for Shinoda it was this dystopian kung-fu action thriller set within the confines of a tower block. The film and the soundtrack have received numerous awards. Hopefully he will be returning on the sequel which is currently in development.
He masterminded Linkin Park's own Stagelight production programme and released it through Bittorrent: 'The charge I get out of making music is like nothing else, right?' said Shinoda. 'So, if we can give that to somebody thats a great first step for me. And if it ends there, fine. But for me, I love the feeling that this potentially can get people who have never really experienced that 2014 that sensation of the excitement of creation. If it can give that to them, then I'd be really thrilled about that.' We couldn't agree more.
He sticks by his friends: Shinoda has worked on various projects, including Hip-Hop group Styles of Beyond who he put his heart and soul into producing. Sadly they broke up but he still worked on producing and putting out their album Reseda Beach years later. He was right to stick with it - it was a great album.
Jay Z helped produce his solo album: Under the Fort Minor alias Shinoda went Hip Hop and Jay took a production credit on the album. Whereas it's hard to tell where his influence lands it's an unappreciated album featuring The Roots, Common and many more.
He is an AWESOME lyricist: Some of his best include - 'What do I do to ignore them behind me/Do I follow my instincts blindly/Do I hide my pride from these bad dreams/And give in to sad thoughts that are maddening/Do I sit here and try to stand it/Or do I try to catch them red-handed/Do I trust some and get fooled by phoniness/Or do I trust nobody and live in loneliness/Because I can't hold on when I'm stretched so thin /I make the right moves but I'm lost within/I put on my daily facade but then/I just end up getting hurt again'
