Glastonbury starts as rain soaks festival goers
Party continues as forecast storms begin to lash the Westcountry. Keep calm and drink beer
Glastonbury opened its gates on Wednesday of this week (25 June 2014) to sunny skies and hot sunshine, but by Thursday, Worthy Farm was a soggy mudbath as the rain lashed the thousands of early arrivals at this summer's biggest UK festival event.
But the British public did what they did best - necked a load of booze and got on with things. In this instance, made sure they had a thoroughly good time. The festival kicks off in full today, with Kaiser Chiefs opening the festival with a 'secret set' on The Other Stage, while Arcade Fire will headline tonight, ahead of Metallica and Kasabian, who top the bill on Saturday and Sunday.
