Miley Cyrus twerks on Robin Thicke (MTV VMA Awards 2013): We've all seen it - Robin Thicke borrowed Beetlejuice's suit to defile a former Disney sensation. it was awkward, and it was memorable (whether we like it or not).
Mark Ronson and friends (The Brit Awards, 2008): Fresh after the release of Version, the critically lauded album that took Mark Ronson into the pop stratosphere, this performance at The Brits was arguably career-defining for the producer/DJ. Joined by Amy Winehouse, Daniel Merriweather and Adele for a fantastic medley of hits from the record, this performance was simply unforgettable.
Adele's stripped back masterpiece (The Brit Awards, 2011): In the wake of the ridiculously popular 21, Adele defied convention in her Brit Awards performance by declining the fanfare and pyrotechnics for just a microphone and a piano. Needless to say, that particular rendition of 'Someone Like You' was one of the most poignant moments in the festival's history - and has been watched over 150,000,000 times on youtube.
Eminem and Elton John play 'career russian roulette' (The Grammys, 2011): Without doubt one of the most unexpectedly brilliant collaborations, two of the music world's most disparate acts joined forces for a rousing performance of Eminem's super-hit 'Stan', a move the rapper would later describe as "career Russian roulette". Nevertheless, with homophobic slurs surrounding Eminem at the time, this was a bold, and brilliant move.
Beyonce's mid-performance pregnancy announcement (MTV VMA's 2011): As we all know by now every Beyonce performance is a huge event, from her gargantuan Superbowl half time show through to that thing she did on a chair at the VMA's last year. This particular show at the VMA's in 2011 though was something a bit different. After an energetic performance of 'Love On Top', Beyonce took the time on stage to announce her pregnancy.
Daft Punk and pals bring 'Get Lucky' to The Grammys (The Grammys, 2014): As if the robots' comeback single couldn't get any bigger, the French duo joined forces with Stevie Wonder, Pharrell and Nile Rodgers at last year's Grammys for a stunning performance.
Kanye's special guest filled performance (The Grammys, 2008): Another time the robots dominated The Grammys, the duo appeared seemingly out of nowhere to join Yeezy for a visceral rendition of 'Stronger', bringing the pyramid and everything.
Gorillaz duet with Madonna (The Grammys, 2006): Rocking the holograms long before Tupac and Coachella, Damon Albarn's cartoon project performed with Madge to open the Grammys in 2006. Hugely impressive.
Jarvis Cocker vs Michael Jackson (The Brit Awards, 1996): It's safe to say Michael Jackson's original performance of Earth Song at The Brit Awards wasn't meant to include Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker pointing his bum into the crowd, but it sure did make it better.
Britney and the Boa Constrictor (The Grammys, 2001): Possibly one of the most confusing moments in Britney's career (which is saying something), the pop-sensation decided to make her Grammys performance a bit different by collaborating with a boa constrictor for 'I'm A Slave 4 U'. Thankfully, no animals (or popstars) were hurt during the performance - unlike when Nicki Minaj tried to repeat the feat in 2014.
Radiohead's marching band extravaganza (The Grammys, 2009): Thom Yorke's amazing twitchy dance moves 15 Step a full college marching band. Need we say more?
T.I., Jay-Z, M.I.A Lil Wayne & Kanye smash it out the park (The Grammys, 2009): One of the biggest hip-hop lineups of recent times, but throw in the fact that M.I.A performed just three days before she gave birth and you have hip hop history.
