Ed Sheeran offers Noel Gallagher gig tickets, Gallagher accepts

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he offered Noel Gallagher tickets to one of his Wembley gigs after Gallagher said he "couldn't live in a world" where someone like Sheeran can headline the stadium. Amazingly, Gallagher accepted the offer on behalf of his daughter.

In an interview with NME earlier in the year, Gallagher said, "When you hear that kind of polished pop and then there’s a ginger guy with a fucking guitar it seems subversive, but it’s fucking not."

As for the fact that Sheeran will perform in the 80,000 capacity Wembley Stadium in July, he said, "I don't think I can live in a world where that's even possible." A sentiment to which Sheeran replied on Twitter: "I can live in it, it's really enjoyable."

In a new interview with The Daily Star, Sheeran revealed he texted Gallagher inviting him along to one of his Wembley gigs. "I texted him because I have his number and asked him if he'd like some tickets. He wrote back, 'You cheeky so and so. My daughter would love some'."

He added, "He's always going to be the guy who's outspoken. I wasn't offended. I found it quite cool to be in his interview."

Meanwhile Sheeran recently performed an intimate gig for the VH1 Storytellers series, during which he played Don McLean's 'Vincent'. In response to Sheeran's cover of his song, McLean tweeted, "I just saw Ed Sheeran's version of my song 'Vincent' on VH1 and it's really exceptional. It seems to move along better than it usually does due to a slight change in the rhythm he has made."

Not everyone was happy with the gig though - some fans managed to secure e-tickets to the venue only to be turned away when it reached capacity. This is, in fact, common practice for TV programmes - as many people who apply for tickets fail to turn up.
