Happy Mondays' dancer and maraca-player Bez is planning to emulate John Lennon and Yoko Ono's famous bed-in next week, this time as a protest against fracking.
In a press release, Bez, real name Mark Berry, revealed that he and girlfriend Firouzeh Razavi will enter the Montcalm Hotel in the City of London on Monday 9 February, for a 7 day Bed-in to protest against Shale Fracking techniques fuelled up by "this government's rampant and slavish adherence to Capitalism."
Speaking of the Bed-in, Bez says, "Where John Lennon and Yoko Ono holed up for a week in the Presidential Suite at the Hilton Hotel Amsterdam in Manhattan for their 'Bed-in for Peace' on March 25, 1969, Firouzeh and I are compelled to do our 'Bed-in against Fracking' which has been thrust upon us all undemocratically."
Bez and Razavi will stay in bed all week to protest the government's decision. There is one upside of the situation. "It's taking the hassle out of what to do for Valentine's Day" explains Bez.
Bez is currently standing for The Reality Party and is hoping to win the Salford and Eccles seat, where Hazel Blears is standing down.
