Local pop-rock outfit Sierra Alpha kick off the final day and their strident, catchy hooks please the early risers. A mid-afternoon visit to the beach follows (you can’t attend Beach Break without dipping your feet into the sea at the very least) which means adolescent pop-rock chick Daisy Dares You is scratched from the viewing itinerary.

New Young Pony Club took on much bleaker overtones on their recent album 'The Optimist' and that’s subsequently divided a big chunk of their fan base. Still, there’s enough playful, new wave pop to get the main stage shaking with former singles 'The Bomb' and 'Ice Cream' are clear highlights.

Drum n Bass duo Chase & Status headline the main stage, but I opt for another London pairing (there’s an obvious Londinium theme developing at Beach Break) as Scratch Perverts bring a thumping DJ set to the dance tent. Annie Mac is an old hat at this game and her set, although both frenetic and fluid, contains the usual mash-ups spun so often by Belgian vinyl pushers 2manyDJs (whom I inexcusably missed the previous evening).

This was an impressive Welsh debut for Beach Break Live and with plans to make Pembrey its permanent home, I only hope the opposition next year comes from other festivals within Wales.
