When the pounding, siren-like synths launch Acoustic Ladyland’s ‘Saltwater,’ there’s such a metallic urgency and fear about them that you’d think you were listening to the soundtrack of an edgy new sci-fi film. But as the frantic, jazzy brass kicks in, you know you’ve discovered something much more unique and much less accessible than incidental music. Coming from a group with possibly the most deceptive name in musical history, this is a song that gets your heart racing and doesn’t give in for a full four minutes.
