Groove Armada - 'Song4Mutya'

Thus far, single-wise, it seems like former Sugababe Mutya Buena has been surrounded with not only attention, but also everybody doing the hard work for her. Sampling in her debut single, and now Groove Armada are making the sounds that are eclipsed by her vocals. In truth, they should be doing it for themselves. Whether ‘Song4Mutya’ was simply a spur-of-the-moment idea which worked reasonably well or not, ultimately it comes across as a gigantic advertising campaign to try and get both Armada and Buena into previously less-accessible heights. Nobody can deny the song is catchy, but boy is it annoying. It’s the sound of summer, yes, but if you had this being played in every shop and club, you’d sure-fire be provoked to do something insane.

Released 23/07/07 on Columbia Records
