The Sounds - 'Painted by Numbers'

Apparently The Sounds are an EMO band… There are some words that give the quivers; for this writer, it’s that word; perhaps less the word itself and more the undeniable fact that those who use it (usually Londonites and Jo Whiley) have no concept of what it actually means. 

The Sounds do have a melodical similarity to so-called emo bands like Paramore, and The Audition, but their electronic influences are more in line with Dead Disco or Robots in Disguise- 80s influenced e-l-e-c-t-r-o-n-i-c bands, for those in the slow readers club. ‘Painted by Numbers’ is a song that sucks the pith out of Blondie’s 'Rapture'; it’s the song that comes on at the disco and you’re glad you’re wearing neon shoes as you shimmy round your glitter handbag and ‘nah nah nah’ it up for the duration of 3:18 minutes. 

So now we’ve established they’re not emo, take us forth to Disco-punk! We’ll be sat at the bar with the Mighty Boosh’s rockettes (that’s Robots in Disguise to you's).
