Speaking to Beats, the singer specifically discussed one of Ghost Stories' singles, 'A Sky Full Of Stars'. "I'm not the most poetic of lyricists," he admitted, "but I know what feels right."

He added: "It's not saying someting's broken so we should give up, it's saying something's broken so let's work on it and make it better than it was before."

As for his inspirations, Martin said: "I'll tell you the truth, I was listening to a lot of Katy Perry. A lot of her songs have the same chord sequence. Your body feels comfortable with them, and then there's a melody on top and a groove you can get into. So there's a simplicity to that."

Listen to Chris Martin talking about 'A Sky Full Of Stars' below

'A Sky Full Of Stars' was the second single to be taken from Coldplay's sixth album, Ghost Stories, which was released back in May and went to No.1 in both the UK and the US.

Alongside this announcement, Moroder also revealed the video for title track '74 Is The New 2', whcih you can watch over on Vice now.

Speaking in a press release about the new album, Moroder, who turned 74 in April, said: "Dance music doesn't care where you live. It doesn't care who your friends are. It doesn't care how much money you make. It doesn't care if you are 74 of if you are 24 because... 74 is the new 24!"

Moroder is best known for his work on songs by artists such as Donna Summmer, as well as his scores for Scarface and Top Gun. He also more recently remixed Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett's 'I Can't Give You Anything But Love' and Coldplay's 'Magic'.

gigwise96129 <![CDATA[John Lydon ipad app]]> http://www.gigwise.com/news/96129/John-Lydon-ipad-app John Lydon has revealed he spent £10,000 on in-game apps for his iPad in two years.

In an interview with the Telegraph he admitted: "I wasted - you're the first to know this - 10,000 f*****g pounds in the last two years on apps on my iPad. I got into Game of Thrones, Game of War, Real Racing, and I just wanted to up the ante. Like an idiot I didn't check myself. I've been checked now. But there's a kid in me, see? A bit of my childhood was taken from me and I'm determined to bring it back."

Elsewhere in the interview Brydon discusses a number of his other financial faux pas. He describes his worst financial decision was launching the record label A&M. "Went from one record company to another very quickly. They lasted less than a week and got us “Businessmen of the Year” in some bloody magazine. It was all about big business and that was the worst thing. People would think I’d write these songs as a financial scam. It was Herb Alpert’s label. We get on all right now but he couldn’t deal with me back then, probably because of Rick Wakeman’s poisoning [of the relationship] and the like, which there was a lot of."

Lydon recently claimed he felt under-valued by the music press and that many have failed to recognise just how subversive the Sex Pistols were at the time.

The singer said: "It amazes me when I see these all-time top albums lists, and 'Never Mind The Bollocks' is hovering around Number 10, 15 or even 20," he said. "This is a band that pushed it so far we were discussed in Parliament under the Treason Act, you know?"

Clearly in reflective mood, the PiL frontman also disccuses his alias Johnny Rotten in the interview, stating that the character was a self-defence mechanism as a result of his vulnerability: "I can't help it – I'm in the public eye. I've built up a very good defence in Johnny Rotten over the years, but unfortunately that's been interpreted as arrogance, which of course it's not. It's a self-defence mechanism which I had to adopt because of those early years."

Lydon also revealed that he's got more than 2,000 pages of notes for the new PiL album, praising fellow band members as: "the best people I've ever worked with".

Lydon's third autobiography, 'Anger Is An Energy: My Life Uncensored' is out now.

gigwise96120 <![CDATA[Uber Spotify Announcement partnership]]> http://www.gigwise.com/news/96120/Uber-Spotify-Announcement-partnership Uber have announced a relationship with Spotify, meaning that your days of enforced late night exposure to Magic FM may be numbered.

As first revealed in the New York Times, Uber are set to team up with the streaming company to provide in car music where you will be able to access your playlists on the go.

Invitations (featuring a subtle musical stave) were sent out for a conference call due to reveal further details at 3pm. The event will see Uber Chief Executive Travis Calinick would announce a "first-of-its-kind partnership" with a "special partner guest".

Users with a Spotify Premium Account can connect with their Uber app, request a ride and you can stream music through its speakers. Both your own playlists and bespoke Uber's lists will be available. The lists are fully customisable and completely under your control.

To mark the collaboration, a number of artists in ten launch cities have been confirmed for drive along events on 21 November including Andrew W.K., Professor Green and Diplo.

It's been a difficult few weeks for Spotify, exemplified by Taylor Swift's removal of her entire back catalogue from streaming and denial of the benefits of the service. Spotify CEO Daniel Ek recently had to defend the website's relationship with artists and bands, disputing claims that an act can't make money from streaming their music.

“We started Spotify because we love music and piracy was killing it. So all the talk swirling around lately about how Spotify is making money on the backs of artists upsets me big time.

“When I hear stories about artists and songwriters who say they’ve seen little or no money from streaming and are naturally angry and frustrated, I’m really frustrated too. The music industry is changing – and we’re proud of our part in that change – but lots of problems that have plagued the industry since its inception continue to exist.” he continued.

The LP, which follows their 2013 debut In Love, has in fact been finished for some time. Speaking to Gigwise backstage at this year's Reading Festival, the band said: "It's finished, we're just waiting for the right time to release it."

They added: "We would've loved to do it earlier but apparently you've got to do things in the lead up to it. Why can't we just put it on YouTube? But no, you've gotta build it up. So that's what we're doing now."

As for the album's sound, they told us: "It kind of expands on every element of our sound that we've already covered... If you take us at face value you might be a little unsettled by some of the songs on it. But I'd like to think that people can kind of digest it a little bit and chew it up and be like, 'Ok, it doesn't sound like 'Lovesick' but I like it."

Happy People will be released via Columbia Records on 9 February 2015. See the full tracklisting below.

gigwise96114 <![CDATA[Ariel Pink calls Grimes Stupid and Retarded]]> http://www.gigwise.com/news/96114/Ariel-Pink-calls-Grimes-Stupid-and-Retarded Ariel Pink has attacked fellow 4AD artist Grimes as 'completely stupid and retarded' regarding her accusasions of misogyny.

Speaking to the Guardian this weekend, Pink defended his attack on Madonna's career, that Grimes described as 'delusional misogyny'.

"I was only repeating what Interscope told me about why they needed me," he said. "They’re not my opinions. It’s clickbait journalism. The media lies to us all the time, and we always believe the media. Then Grimes – who’s completely stupid and retarded to believe any of it – jumps in and has her two cents. I’m not a misogynist. Maybe she’s angry that I’m the male version of her, who was at 4AD before her."

In an entertaining encounter, Pink also revealed that being described as a dork is the gravest insult he's received, that he believes the Wesboro Baptist church are "free speech advocates" and that he loves paeodphiles "like Jesus loved paedophiles".

The best analysis of his often provocative opions? “Everybody’s full of shit. The more sense they make, the more full of shit they are.” He also announced that, despite what he said earlier in the piece, "I am a misogynist! Yes, I have to deal with that.”

Pink will also be playing a gig at London's Scala today (17 November), on the same date as his albm Pom Pom is released. For more information and tickets visit here

The singer was included in the initial announcement of artists confirmed to record the new version of 1984 charity single 'Do They Know It's Christmas', which is raising money for the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

She failed to appear however, leading Bob Geldof to tell The Sun: "Adele is doing nothing, she's not answering the phone... she's not writing, she's not recording. She doesn't want to be bothered by anyone. She won't pick up the phone to her manager. She's bringing up a family, you know."

As The Guardian reports, a spokesperson for the singer has now said that Adele chose to support the cause with a donation, adding: "Bob and the organisers spoke directly with her management but at no point was she confirmed."

Those that did turn up to record the single included Bono, Elbow, Coldplay's Chris Martin, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and One Direction. To download the track, visit here

The Irish songwriter is the latest in a long, long line of musicians and celebrities who have voiced their criticism of the band. They have faced accusations of 'devaluing' music, forcing themselves on people and just not being very good. Now they have also been branded terrorists.

''What they did with iTunes was a badly-judged move," O'Connor told Event magazine. ''There was something almost terrorist about it. I'm really not a U2 fan but it wasn't at all kosher invading people's lives like that. It was bad management.''

In other U2 news, Bono, after nearly avoiding death by plane, fell off his bike in Central Park and now requires surgery. This means the entire Tonight Show residency has been cancelled.

Poor U2 just don't seem to be able to catch a break.

This latest version of the 1984 charity single was recorded to raise money for the Ebola crisis in West Africa (or "embola" as Olly Murs put it in an interview), and features Coldplay's Chris Martin, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith, Queen's Roger Taylor, Bono, One Direction and many more.

Watch Band Aid 30 perform 'Do They Know It's Christmas' below

Following the release of the track's official video, #BandAid30 began trending on Twitter, with many keen to express their opinion on the artists' efforts. Some were impressed by it.

Others, however, were less impressed, with some questioning Geldof's motives and others asking why there weren't more African musicians involved.

gigwise96108 <![CDATA[Foo Fighters Glastonbury 2015 Rumours]]> http://www.gigwise.com/news/96108/Foo-Fighters-Glastonbury-2015-Rumours Dave Grohl has again added fuel to the rumour mill around Foo Fighters headlining Glastonbury 2015 - stating that they will, as long as Oasis and Prince do too.

The band have been long rumoured to be topping the bill at Worthy Farm next June - especially having announced a UK stadium tour that seemingly coincides with the festival.

However, regarding their alleged slot, Grohl remained typically tongue-in-cheek about the whole affair.

"If Prince does it, and Oasis does it, you've got the Foo Fighters, how about that?," he told BBC Radio One.

He continued: "(Michael Eavis) hasn't called me. I mean, I don't want to give out my phone number on air, but I like playing shows! I've been to that festival before. It's pretty fun. We'll see what happens.

"We'll get a conference call happening, we can work this out. Imagine Prince and Oasis on the telephone, that would be amazing."

Opening up about his love for the Gallagher brothers, Grohl continued: "In America Oasis sort of crept up on us, and it was one of the first times that an English band became massively enormous in a really long time. We ended up seeing them and playing shows with them and I got to know them a little bit. I love them as people, they're the sweetest people in the world. I know they have this sort of reputation of being brash and nasty, but I don't think they are.

"I've watched them live and there are not that many bands that can just stand there motionless and make 100,000 people go bananas, and that comes down to the songs. When your songs are that good, you've got something good going on. I miss them.

He added: "If Taylor Hawkins and I can be in a band together, I'm sure that they can be in a band together too."

Foo Fighters upcoming UK dates are below:
25 May – Sunderland, UK – Sunderland Stadium of Light
27 May – Manchester, UK – Emirates Old Trafford
19 June – London, UK – Wembley Stadium*
20 June – London, UK – Wembley Stadium*
23 June – Edinburgh, UK – BT Murrayfield Stadium**

gigwise96107 <![CDATA[Pink Floyd Endless River is the fastest selling album of 2014]]> http://www.gigwise.com/news/96107/Pink-Floyd-Endless-River-is-the-fastest-selling-album-of-2014 Pink Floyd have stolen the top spot with new album The Endless River, becoming the top selling album of 2014 in the process.

The album has shot the previous holders of the sales accolade, Coldplay's Ghost Stories and Ed Sheeran's X, with a whopping 139,000 sales since last weeks release. Not too bad for a band who haven't released a record in 20 years...

“Pink Floyd is both thrilled and surprised at the level of international interest in this their final album," a spokesperson told The Official Charts Company. "They want to thank the fans for their support and hope that in some small way, The Endless River has reminded them of the old fashioned joy of listening to an album in its entirety.”

It also means that the album has surpassed the Foo Fighters' eighth offering, titled Sonic Highways, which lands at No.2. Ed Sheeran's X is still hanging on at No.3, while Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour has moved back up to No.4. Lastly veteran rockers Queen have returned at No.5 with a compilation of unreleased and remastered material, entitled Queen Forever.

As for the singles charts, Gareth Malone's All Star Choir is at No.1 with 'Wake Me Up', just knocking Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud' down to No.2. Meanwhile One Direction's 'Steal My Girl' moves to No.3, Cheryl Coles 'I Don't Care' is at No.4 and 'All About That Bass' by Meghan Trainor is still hanging on at No.5.
