It looks like The Rolling Stones may soon be dropping some new material, after guitarist Keith Richards admitted that he was 'ready' to hit the studio.

The band, who have not released a studio album since 2005's A Bigger Bang, were talking to Rolling Stone magazine about the potential of recording again.

"Funny you should mention [recording]" Richards said. "Just last week, the word 'studio' popped up while we were rehearsing. I said, 'Well, let's find a time. I'm ready'."

Meanwhile, Ronnie Wood also revealed that the band were now closer than ever, speaking of the vibe and togetherness in the group after the tragic death of Jagger's girlfriend L'Wren Scott last year

"We've never been closer," he said. "Mick went through that terrible thing, and the band has become even more important to him because of that."

Jagger also spoke of feeling "pretty good, actually", while the band are amidst their US tour.

"Sometimes at the beginning of these tours, you feel a bit achy," he said. "But I'm in good shape. It's all about avoiding being injured. You've just got to watch it and not overdo it, and you should be able to do it for a little bit longer... It's like being on some dreadful football team!"

The Rolling Stones re-release their classic LP Sticky Fingers on 8 June. Tickets for the band’s Zip Code Tour are on sale now. For tickets and information, click here
