Tool fans have been patiently awaiting a new album for nearly a decade now, and the band continue to tease that a release may (or may not) be imminent.
It's been nine years since the metal heroes released their fourth album 10,000 Days - and the wait ever since has been seemingly never-ending; frought with band, creative and legal issues.
Now, it's been known that the band have been in the studio for some time. The latest update is the enigmatic but teasing post on their official website, simply saing 'wait for it'.
Earlier this year, Tool revealed that the multi-million dollar lawsuit brought against them by their insurance company is over, and their new album is finally making progress. The band also revealed that one member has been battling a "do-or-die, serious illness."
It was reported last summer that the band were battling a multi-million dollar lawsuit, after their insurance company sued them over "technicalities" in a copyright case. The case has now been settled, with Tool leaving victorious. Guitarist Adam Jones said, "We would have had an album out a long time ago. We would have been taking more tours. But we’ve been discouraged and distracted by this major lawsuit, which is the worst thing that’s ever happened to us."
Jones also revealed that an unnamed member of the band had been dealing with a "do-or-die serious illness", adding, "When you're trying to write music and you have that eating away at you - this person you're married to and you love and hate at the same time has something they're dealing with that's out of their control - it's distracting."
The new Tool album, which is currently untitled, is expected to be released by the end of the year.
