Bath quartet The Heavy are back with their highly anticipated fourth album Hurt & The Merciless, and you can watch the lyric video for the huge new single 'Turn Up' exclusively on Gigwise first below.
If this new single is anything to go by, then the new album is going be a smash. 'Turn Up' is an infectious hit that easily stands tall next to their global burner 'How You Like Me Now?'.
The power of this colossal single is helped by the fact it keeps the energetic spirit of the band, who are renowned for their live performances - remarkably so, in tact.
In terms of genre, The Heavy have always been indefinable. But as such, they're perfect for festivals. On 'Turn Up' they remain true to their roots and consolidate themsleves as a fun band that can inspire movement and energy into even the most lathargic people. Elements of garage-punk, ska, dub, blues, classic R&B/soul pervade the cut as trumpets, a solid up-tempo rhythm section, and the soulful, distinct power of Kelvin Swaby's vocals combine beautifully.
The video has the warm analogue look of many 80s films and as far as lyric videos go, it's really well done with an imaginative array of scenes indluding: jelly fish, fireworks, and smashed watermelons, which keep you entertained.
