Grammy winner Chance The Rapper has just been announced to perform at Norway's prestigious Øya festival; an 18,000 cap event held 8 - 12 August in beautiful Oslo.

With Chance just triumphed at the Grammys with winning best rap album ahead of Kanye and Drake, the unsigned independent gospel/rap artist will take to the festival to perform tracks from his highly acclaimed album Coloring book and beyond.

The Chicago artist's preceding mixtape Chance of 10 A Day was steeped in tales of sharing blunts and, Acid Rap was a different animal where Chance admitted to partaking in the odd bit of LSD during the making of it. Coloring Book is a gospel album and an ode to God in a big way. But it's not a pastiche of a Pentecostal Sermon's vibe, it's a strange but beautiful combination of contemporary rap, sharp rhyme, wit and energy and more the old school gospel.

The chance to see this rapper live in Norway should not be passed up as his show at the Grammys was indicative of a star that's here to stay as he crafted one of the most insanely good live shows, trumping Adele's and Ed Sheeran's performances.

Oh, what's more, Øya have put the fantastic Ryan Adam playing, too. His album Prisoner out this week is one of the greatest rock albums to come out in years and easily ranks highly in his own back catalogue. There are so many classic songs and he deservedly gets the nod as this generations Neil Young.

Other additions to the festival include someone we tipped in our 39 new artists to look out for in 2017 list. She's a shadowy electro pop singer from Peckham who just a few weeks ago was playing intimate 60 cap coffee shop in Hackney. Her debut single 'Had To Feel Something' has created a bit of a stir.

They join Thee Oh Sees, Cashmere Cat, Nils Bech and Sigrid as the latest additions to the festival that we named “The greatest weekend that the summer’s festival calendar can offer.”

The last announcement included The XX and Pixies and Lana Del Rey was in the first wave to be revealed. Check out the full line-up here
