Madonna wanted to make a surprise appearance at one of Michael Jackson's comeback shows in London, her manager has revealed.
Guy Oseary made the revelation on his Twitter page just hours after the King of Pop died yesterday.
He wrote: “The moment that never happened: A month ago Madonna told me she wanted to do a surprise performance at one of Michael Jackson's UK shows.”
Jackson was set to play 50 dates at London's O2 Arena, starting on July 13.
But instead of anticipation for his ambitious comeback, fans are today mourning the loss of the musician known around the world as the King of Pop.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Madonna has already joined a growing list of musicians and celebrities who have paid tribute to the star.
The singer, regarded as the Queen of Pop, said she “can’t stop crying” over Jackson's death.
“The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever,” she said. “My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless."
Jackson is understood to have suffered a heart attack at his home in Los Angeles. He died later in hospital.
There are unconfirmed reports today that the star may have overdosed on prescription medication.
