Rihanna Defends 'Man Down' Video As Murder Scene Is Slammed

Rihanna has defended the video for her new single 'Man Down' after it came under fire from pressure groups.

The video, released earlier this week, was criticised because it begins a scene where Rihanna appears to shoot a man who is later alluded to trying to rape her.

US pressure groups and some fans have criticised the video.

But in a series of messages on Twitter, Rihanna said the video had received a “tremendous response” from her followers.

She added: “Young girls/women all over the world...we are a lot of things! We're strong innocent fun flirtatious vulnerable, and sometimes our innocence can cause us to be naïve!

“We always think it could NEVER be us, but in reality, it can happen to ANY of us! So ladies be careful and listen to your mama. I love you and I care.”

'Man Down' is the latest single to be taken from Rihanna's recent album 'Loud'.
