Cheryl Cole has begun writing a new album as the uncertainty over her furture on The X Factor USA continues, it's been reported.
The singer was scheduled to be one of the judges on the forthcoming American series, but was later dropped reportedly due to fears over her Northern accent.
According to the Daily Mirror, Cole is working with songwriter Wayne Wilkins on new material, which she hopes will help raise her US profile.
A source said: “Cheryl’s time and energy is going into her music and writing songs. She is putting her emotions down on paper. A lot of the tracks she writes are likely to be about how she is feeling right now.
“She wants to prove to everyone that she’s a great pop star and is in control of her own destiny and doesn’t need to rely on others.”
As previously reported on Gigwise, Simon Cowell is in talks to secure Cole's return to The X Factor USA judging panel.
