Dave Grohl 'Honoured' To Be Competing With Adele At Grammy Awards 2012

Dave Grohl has said he's honoured to be competing against Adele at this weekend's Grammy Awards.

The Foo Fighters are up for six categories, including 'Album of the Year' along with Adele.

In an interview with The AP, Grohl praised Adele's album 21:

"I'm glad that we're with Adele in the same category. It means we've done something right. I think she gives us all hope," Grohl said. "She's made an incredible record, and she's an incredibly talented artist, so maybe it is true that the cream actually rises to the top."

The rocker continued: "There's a reason why that record is so [expletive] huge. It's good. It's inspiring when something legitimate gets recognised for what it is. It's such a cliche, but it's a huge achievement to be nominated."

Grohl also admitted that he does not prepare acceptance speeches for award shows.

"I never plan what I'm going to say when I get up on stage. My father was a speechwriter, and my mother was a public speaking teacher, and one thing that I've learned in life is that you never want to read a speech," he joked.

"You just want to go up and give it. That always jinxes it, anyway. The last thing you want to do is walk out of there with a speech in your pocket that you didn't get to read."

Adele is set to make a comeback at the award ceremony, performing live for the first time since surgery on her throat. Also set to play are Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, Rihanna and Paul McCartney.
