Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP2 has outstripped even the high commercial hopes held for it by selling 792,000 copies in its first week to soar to the top of the Billboard 100.
It's the second highest numbers of units shifted by any album in the US this year, with the top seller still being Justin Timberlake's massively successful The 20/20 Experience, which shifted 968,000 on its debut copies in March.
Industry experts had predicted sales of around 750,000, based on however on earth they work these things out. Despite mixed reviews for the album, as you can see below, it seems the huge Eminem record selling machine shows no sign of slowing down.
Good news for fans for angry but commercial rap over smooth R&B is that Eminem's album has pushed Drake's Nothing Was The Same down to third place with paltry sales of 658,000 in its first week. Must try harder Drake.
