Charlie Simpson is reported to have been paid a massive six figure sum by selling his share of the rights to the Busted name - so that McBusted could be formed without him.
Earlier this week, an unholy pop union was announced after former chart terrorists Busted and McFly came together to join forces as new 'supergroup' McBusted - set to tour next year. However, former member turned Fightstar and solo musician Charlie Simpson is not part of the new formation.
Now, The Mirror claims that Simpson called a meeting with the band to sell his third of shares to the copyrighted Busted name - so that members Matt Willis and James Bourne could take part without him.
A 'source' told the paper: "He is getting on with his solo career, he isn’t really even working with Fightstar - the band he created after leaving Busted - but didn’t feel it was fair not to be bought out of the Busted brand."
"All three sat down amicably and worked out a figure that everyone was happy with. Charlie made it clear in no uncertain terms that that’s it for him and the boys now, it’s finished."
