Time magazine has revealed its annual list of the 100 Most Influential People In The World - with just a handful of music stars making the cut.
Beyonce, Pharrell Williams, Carrie Underwood and Miley Cyrus are all included among the politicians, figures from the fashion world and sports stars - with Beyonce making the cover of the magazine (see above).
"Beyoncé doesn’t just sit at the table. She builds a better one. Today she sits at the head of the boardroom table at Parkwood Entertainment," writes Facebook boss Sheryl Sandberg in a gushing piece about the 'XO' superstar in the magazine. "In the past year, Beyoncé has sold out the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour while being a full-time mother. Her secret: hard work, honesty and authenticity. And her answer to the question, What would you do if you weren’t afraid? appears to be “Watch me. I’m about to do it.” Then she adds, “You can, too.”"
Justin Timberlake penned a few words about Pharrell, in which he praised the star's music talents and undeniable skill at keeping young. Timberlake wrote: "He injects that vibrant energy into the music in a way that you can feel. Whether it’s the chord changes that remind you of another time or the melody that instantly grabs you, you are transported to another place. You smile, you dance, you clap along. His music actually does make you happy.
"Maybe that’s why he still looks younger than the rest of us. Yep … Pharrell Williams is having way too much fun. And I don’t know about you, but I hope he never stops."
Meanwhile, Dolly Parton wrote a short piece about Miley Cyrus - who is her goddaughter.
"If I didn’t know how smart and talented Miley is, I might worry about her. But I’ve watched her grow up. So I don’t. She knows what she’s doing," writes Parton. "She made her point, she made her mark, and more power to her. “Wrecking Ball” is a great song. The whole album is great. So I’m hoping that now she can relax and show people how talented she really is. ’Cause the girl can write. The girl can sing. The girl is smart."
