After rumour, speculation and denial, Noel Gallagher joined Johnny Marr on stage for an epic collaboration at London's Brixton Academy tonight (Thursday 23 October, 2014). See footage below.
Rumours of the former Oasis giant joining The Smiths legend on stage at his headlining gig in the capital started circulating earlier this week, before Marr would coyly deny them in an interview with Gigwise.
However, after an already incredible set, Marr returned for an encore to welcome Gallagher to the stage. Introducing him as an 'old friend' who he'd known for 20 years and one of the 'greatest songwriters' of our time with a promising future, Gallagher silently swaggered on stage to a rapturous applause.
We were there, trust us when we say it was awesome. The pair then ended the show with a cover of Iggy Pop's 'Lust For Life' and a magnificent rendition of The Smiths' classic 'How Soon Is Now'.
