After teasing fans of an exciting, unnamed producer, Red Hot Chili Peppers have confirmed, briefly, that they're working with Danger Mouse on their new album.

The band's albums have been produced by Rick Rubin since 1989 - but now, 25 years on, it seems they've decided to go in a different direction.

In a tweet which has since been deleted, the band's bassist Flea confirmed that Danger Mouse, whose real name is Brian Burton, was the "unnamed producer who is really challenging us to find new ways to come up with new music."

Though Flea swiftly removed the tweet, nothing is ever lost in the world of the internet, and plenty of screenshots have now surfaced online.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Chad Smith said: “The new album is shaping up good. We’ve done the ‘guys get in the room and jam out songs, everybody playing together all at once’ thing. And we wrote a bunch of songs that way."

The follow-up to 2011's I'm With You is currently untitled, but is expected to arrive sometime in 2015.
